Level C (65 points) + Level B (20 points) + 15 points chosen from the following activities.
If you choose to do a Level A activity you will have to include an annotated bibliography (a bibliography with comments about each of your references) with your assignment. You must have a minimum of six references in your bibliography that relate to your topic.
- Write a research paper around the theme of "phoniness" as it is introduced by J.D. Salinger in The Catcher in the Rye through the words of the main character, Holden Caulfield. Your paper must follow a proper essay outline.(15)
- When The Catcher in the Rye was first published it was widely banned. In fact, there are still some schools in the United States and Canada that have banned the book from their libraries. Research the theme of censorship. Your findings can be presented through an essay or a PowerPoint presentation. (15)
