Level C Basic Understanding
Required (40 points)
- Read the poems and texts in your poetry package with the class and on your own.
- Highlight important information and/or create study notes from texts and/or lectures for each day. see text and lecture tape list.
- IMPORTANT Submit a list of the activities you have chosen from each level. You can choose to stop at level C, continue to stretch your mind by adding Level B activities, or really challenge yourself by adding the Level A activity.
- Be prepared to take part in class discussions, online discussions, and one-on-one discussions with myself or a peer.
- Create a web page about what poetry means to you.
Options (choose any activities that will add up to a total of 100 points)

- Provide brief descriptions of at least 4 of the poems and/or texts you have read. (10)
- Read the Rap article and answer the questions (15)
- Choose one other article to read from your package. Create a question and sparate answer sheet for this article (min. 10 questions) (20)
- Define these vocabulary words in English and provide a synonym in French. (10)
- Create an art project which illustrates the poem you most enjoyed reading. It can be 2D or 3D and/or it can be created with computer technology. If it is not created on the computer, expect to scan it, or a picture of it, in order to include it in your web page.(20)
- Create an illustrated time line for the poets/poems you have read. You can use quotations from the texts/poems, pictures from magazines, and drawings. This could be done on paper or using any technology you like (PowerPoint, Inspiration,...) (15)
- Include a crossword puzzle of at least 20 vocabulary words from the poems you have read.

- Create an online quiz and answer page for other students to complete. (10)
Examples of online quizzes:
- Identify at least two themes from the poems. Provide examples from the poems that support your choices.(10)
- Choose at least 2 of the Internet resources I have provided for you at the beginning of this assignment. Browse through the web pages and write a summary of each of your choices (20)
- Find at least 2 different definitons of poetry. (10)
- Choose one poem to memorize. Make a video of yourself reciting the poem. (15)
- Create a translation guide for the language used in one of the poems. Each entry should include the language of the poem and its plain-speech equivalent. (15)
- Present your assignment to the class (5)
